Save the date! The Woodlands to celebrate 40 years at Founder’s Day event

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (February 18, 2014)— The Woodlands will celebrate its 40th anniversary as a community on Sunday, October 19, 2014, exactly 40 years to the day that The Woodlands was founded by George Mitchell in 1974.

Presented by The Woodlands Township and The Woodlands Development Company, the event will feature entertainment, music, and historical programming. Village associations, schools and non-profits throughout The Woodlands are requested to take part in the festivities of celebrating the wonderful hometown that The Woodlands has become.

The location and exact times are still being discussed, but preliminary plans call for the event to take place between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. in The Woodlands Town Center, either at Waterway Square, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and/or along The Woodlands Waterway. Possible Saturday, October 18, 2014 events in Village Centers are anticipated to be part of the celebration as well.

Sponsorships for the event will also be available, and interested companies may contact Lauren Trice at ltrice@thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov. For more information and/or ideas about the event, contact Megan Lichenstein at mlichenstein@thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov.

Please mark your calendars and watch the local newspapers, magazines and online sources for more information as the date draws closer.
