THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (May 6, 2014) – Interactive Health has included The Woodlands Township in its annual list of Healthiest Companies in America for the first time. The Township was included in the list of 67 honorees from across the United States in 2013.
This designation is awarded to organizations that achieve a low health risk status while sustaining high employee participation in wellness programs. The selection process for honorees is based on an analysis of biometric screening results and the key health indicators of glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and tobacco usage.
“We are extremely pleased with the recognition we’ve received from Interactive Health,” says Don Norrell, President/General Manager of The Woodlands Township. “This distinction aligns us well as an employer with what we value as a healthy and vibrant community.”
Interactive Health is a leading provider of outcomes-based health management solutions designed to engage employees in the management of health issues, including early detection and identification of risk factors. These wellness programs foster personal accountability and empower employees to achieve their personal health goals.
Employers who received this award made major strides in improving their employees’ health in 2013, with 27 percent of tobacco users becoming non-users, 66 percent of those with elevated glucose levels experiencing reduced levels, and 87percent of those with elevated blood pressure experiencing reduced blood pressure.
“It takes courage and commitment to develop a strategic approach to wellness which is what each of our winners demonstrated in 2013. We are proud to honor them with the Healthiest Companies in America award,” said Joseph A. O’Brien, President and CEO of Interactive Health. The Township began working with Interactive Health in 2011, and the results have shown an improvement in each year since.
