THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (June 25, 2014) – The Woodlands Township and The Woodlands Development Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Howard Hughes Corporation®, recently broke ground on the new Village Green Park in the Village of Creekside Park.
As the focal point of the new Creekside Park Village Center, Village Green Park will be lined with large trees and lush perennial plantings and walkways. Realistic artificial turf, large trellises for shade and an interactive splash pad will make the park an ideal place for families to spend time.
“The purpose of the park is to serve the community as both an area park and new sprayground amenity that has become so popular in the Township’s park system,” said The Woodlands Township Director of Parks and Recreation Chris Nunes.
“This is another fine example of the great amenities in The Woodlands and why our town is in high demand for living,” said Township Chairman of the Board Bruce Tough. “These types of investments create long-lasting value to the residents and investors in Creekside Park and The Woodlands. Village Green Park will be a spectacular feature to be enjoyed daily by our residents and visitors.”
The Village Green Park is flanked by over 80,000 SF of retail and professional office as well as a new H-E-B Grocery and drug store and is the western terminus of Liberty Branch, a large traditional neighborhood with easy pedestrian access to the center. The Village Green project is expected to open in November of 2014, with the splash pad opening in the spring of 2015.
The Creekside Village Green Park project is a partnership between The Woodlands Development Company and The Woodlands Township. The Township will own, operate and maintain the park, while the development company will own and operate the commercial buildings flanking the park.
“We appreciate the opportunity to work with The Woodlands Township on this project and we are excited to create a timeless destination within the community that will serve generations as a place of leisure and recreation. We hope the park becomes a home to memorable events and family traditions,” said Travis Guinn, Senior Project Manager with The Woodlands Development Company.
The Village Green Park was designed by The Office of James Burnett and is being constructed by Tribble & Stephens Construction.
