THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (May 26, 2017) – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors is seeking a volunteer to nominate as a candidate for the Montgomery Central Appraisal District (MCAD) Board of Directors election to represent special districts.
The Woodlands Township is treated as a conservation and reclamation district for the purpose of participating in the Montgomery Central Appraisal District (MCAD) election process. The election is held every two years. While there are five board positions to be filled in this election, the Township can only participate in the election for the special district candidate.
As the first step in this process, the Township may choose to nominate a candidate. To assist the Township Board in considering the best qualified person to be nominated to represent special districts, the Township Board is soliciting statements of interest from any interested Woodlands Township resident who resides in the Montgomery County portion of the Township.
If the Township Board chooses to nominate a candidate, that person’s name will be submitted to MCAD to be included on a ballot that will include all names of candidates submitted by special districts, to be voted on by all special districts. If the Township’s nominee is successful in this initial election, he or she will advance to the October MCAD election, where all eligible MCAD entities (not just special districts) will vote.
Applications are available at 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard or on The Woodlands Township website. All applications must be received, not postmarked, by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017. The Township Board of Directors will consider all submittals at their regular Board meeting on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at 6 p.m.
