THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (July 26, 2010) – The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce an agreement with Memorial Herman as the event title sponsor of Memorial Hermann 10 For Texas. Memorial Hermann which has been named among “America’s 50 Best” hospitals in 2010 and as a leader in the Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation industry they offer a combination of health and healing with specialized treatments like outpatient physical therapy and massage therapy.

This year marks the 5th Anniversary and Memorial Hermann has been an event sponsor of 10 For Texas since the revival of the race in 2006. Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine has been offering participants the ability for free sports injury screenings on Mondays after 4 p.m. and have committed to being the title sponsor from 2010-2012.

“Memorial Hermann has helped to make a difference in the community through generously supporting the community recreation programs for the past seven years. We are thrilled and grateful for Memorial Hermann’s sponsorship and without their help our events would not be as successful or possible” said Chris Nunes, Director of The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department.

Memorial Hermann 10 For Texas is fast becoming a popular ten mile road race with 1,730 registered participants in 2009. The race was originally produced from 1980-1998 and became a challenge to produce due to the community growth. In 2005, Luke’s Locker approached the Community Associations of The Woodlands Parks and Recreation about reviving the event and co producing. Since the inaugural event in 2006 the event has increased by 100%. Organizers are planning over 2,000 participants this year and the first 2,000 registered receive an authentic Headsweats hat.

Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation offers numerous programs that have been made available to these participants and the community as a whole. The Athletic Republic Sports Performance Enhancement program consists of a series of supervised training protocols specific to the sport. They continue to offer Sports Injury Screenings every Monday by appointment only and have just recently opened an emergency 24-Hour Emergency and Imaging Center in the Village of Sterling Ridge on Woodlands Parkway.
