This notice is posted as a courtesy to Texas A&M Forest Service and Jones State Forest
THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (December 16, 2013) - Texas A&M Forest Service will be conducting prescribed burning operations at the Jones State Forest this week on Tuesday, December 17 and Wednesday, December 18 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Considered a standard forest management tool for endangered species habitat restoration, undergrowth vegetation reduction and community safety, the prescribed burning will take place as weather permits.
About 45 acres of predominately pine forests are expected to undergo prescribed burning. The affected area is north of F.M. 1488 and between SH 242 and I-45, and south of Carriage Hills and Jacobs Reserve.

Texas A&M Forest Service is notifying surrounding city and fire officials, as well as area residents and groups who frequent the forest, by email and posting notification signs in adjoining rights of way. Agency firefighters will be staged at the forest as a precautionary measure.
