1. What is The Woodlands Township's position on the proposed TexCom injection well project in Montgomery County?

The Woodlands Township passed a resolution in February, 2008, opposing the injection well project. A link appears below to the specific resolution where The Woodlands Township urged TCEQ NOT to issue any permits. The Woodlands Township has supported the actions of the Joint Powers Agency who was a party to the TCEQ permit process and provides water to the residents and businesses of The Woodlands through the municipal utility districts. 2. What is The Woodlands Township's policy on hunting?

Hunting in The Woodlands is strictly prohibited by the Covenants of The Woodlands.

It is a criminal violation of Township Order to hunt or use any weapon to injure any form of wildlife in The Woodlands. In addition, there are several species of wildlife living in the area that are endangered or protected by the U.S. government. Causing injury to these species may result in felony charges.

3. When does the Township have Board of Directors meetings?

The Woodlands Township typically holds its Board meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m., preceded by a workshop held on the previous Thursday at 7:30 a.m. Most meetings are held at The Woodlands Township, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard, although times and locations occasionally vary. 5. When are new Board of Directors members elected? How can I get information about the election?

In August 2012, the Board of Directors passed a resolution changing the annual Board of Director elections from May to November, starting in 2013. Election information can be found on the Elections page.

6. Does The Woodlands Township have the right to ban smoking from public facilities?

The Woodlands Township is a “Special Purpose District” and does not have ordinance making authority under the current provisions of state law. Only incorporated municipalities are granted this right. One of the conditions contained in the Regional Participation Agreement that The Woodlands signed with the City of Houston is that The Woodlands may consider incorporation on or after May 29, 2014. The actual decision of whether or not to incorporate will have to be determined by a vote of the residents. Until incorporation occurs, the Governing Board of The Woodlands Township does not have the ability to consider a community wide ordinances to ban smoking in public places.
