Celebrate the Spirit of Arbor Day with Village Tree Planting – a Growing Township Tradition
Living in The Woodlands, it’s easy to appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds our daily commutes whether in cars, on bikes or on foot. Nature keeps us healthy, and the tree canopy in our community provides cool shade and verdant color to brighten our days. Trees also reduce air pollution, take up and store carbon dioxide, reduce storm water runoff, and cool nearby buildings and homes.
And each year in January, in partnership with The Woodlands Development Company and in celebration of Arbor Day, over 3,000 seedlings are given away to sustain this natural amenity.
To continue this spirit, The Woodlands Township holds a Village Tree Planting in February. The first event recruited 25 volunteers, and last year there were over 350 participants. And for the upcoming Village Tree Planting,The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department will again recruit close to 350 volunteers to help. Volunteers range from young kids to retirees. For the half-day commitment, volunteers will help with digging, spreading soil, planting the seedlings and watering. Register at the link above. Plan to join your neighbors and friends, and plant a tree!
