Property Tax Rate
The property tax rate for The Woodlands Township is made up of a Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate and, an Interest and Sinking (I&S) tax rate. The M&O tax rate provides funds for maintenance and operations and the I&S tax rate provides funds for payments on The Woodlands Township debt service. For Property Tax Year 2013, which funds the Woodlands Township 2014 Budget, the M&O tax rate is 27.03 cents per $100 of taxable value. The I&S tax rate is 2.37 cents per $100 of taxable value. These two tax rates provide for a total rate for The Woodlands Township 2014 Budget of 29.40 cents per $100 of taxable value.
Sales and Use Tax
The Woodlands Township current sales and use tax rate is 8.25 percent. The State of Texas receives 6.25 percent, 1.0 percent is dedicated to The Woodlands Township, and 1.0 percent to The Woodlands Township Economic Development Zone.

Hotel Occupancy Tax
The Woodlands Township current hotel occupancy tax rate of 15.0 percent is levied on room night charges and is distributed as follows: 7.0 percent The Woodlands Township debt service; 2.0 percent The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau; and 6.0 percent State of Texas.
