Wednesday, July 3, 2013
Star-Spangled Salute
The holiday festivities begin on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, with the Houston Symphony’s Star-Spangled Salute, conducted by Michael Krajewski. The concert features a selection of patriotic favorites, American Classics, sing-alongs, and of course, Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” complete with cannons from atop the hill.  The concert begins at 8 p.m. at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, and admission is FREE. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Fourth of July Parade
Wake up early on Thursday, July 4, 2013, put on your red, white and blue and get a prime viewing spot for the exciting South County Fourth of July Parade. The 1.3-mile parade begins and ends at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, and this year’s theme is “Parade of Stars.” The parade begins at 9 a.m., with marching bands, fire engines, clowns, horses and many exciting commercial floats. A tent will be set up in front of The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for senior citizens and the physically challenged to obtain relief from the summer heat.  Roads will be closed during the parade.

Stay cool at one of the 14 community pools in The Woodlands. All Woodlands pools are FREE for Splash Day on Thursday, July 4, 2013, with Splash Day activities scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Kroger is the presenting sponsor for Splash Day.

Things That Go Bike Parade
Bring your favorite bike, tricycle, scooter or wagon to Northshore Park for the annual Things That Go decorating contest and parade. The FREE event is on Thursday, July 4, 2013, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., with decorating starting at 4:30 p.m. and the parade and judging beginning at 5:15 p.m. Limited decorating materials are provided, you can also bring your own. For ages 14 and younger.

Concert in the Park
Pack a picnic and bring your lawn chairs to Northshore Park on Thursday, July 4, 2013, for a FREE Concert in the Park. Enjoy an evening of country and Americana music with Hope Cassity, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Red, Hot & Blue Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza 
Head to Town Green Park and Waterway Square along The Woodlands Waterway® for the 16th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival, presented by Ellis & Ellis and produced by The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau, on Thursday, July 4, 2013, from 6 to 10 p.m.

Bring your family and friends for a festival filled with live music, face painting, strolling performers, games, H-E-B hot dog and watermelon eating contests, vendor booths, concessions and much more! Coolers are not allowed inside Waterway Square or Town Green Park for the Red, Hot & Blue Festival. 

The Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by BBVA Compass, will begin at dusk. New for 2013, the Fireworks Extravaganza will be launched from two locations – On Timberloch Place near I-45 and Waterway Square!

Best viewing will be along The Woodlands Waterway® and Waterway Square.

Reminder
The Woodlands Covenants strictly prohibit the sale or use of home fireworks and sparklers of any kind in The Woodlands. For more information, please contact The Woodlands Fire Department at 281-367-3444.

Road Closure
Waterway Square Place will be closed beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2013 and will reopen at approximately midnight on Friday, July 5, 2013. The Waterway Square Place road closure will start at the intersection of Waterway Avenue and extend to the east side of the Waterway Square Parking Garage. Access to the Waterway Square Parking Garage will be open on both east and west entrances.
