Additional Information
In October 2012, The Woodlands Township assumed fiscal and operational responsibility for the Woodlands Express Park and Ride service because of a change in federal requirements for transit operations the Conroe-The Woodlands Urbanized Area (which includes the Township). Prior to this date, the commuter service provided was the sole responsibility of the Brazos Transit District (District). In October 2012 The Township entered into an agreement with the District to serve as operator and continue to provide the Park and Ride service.

The Park and Ride operation is funded thru fare box collection and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and State of Texas transit grant funding. While all current and future government grants will be administered by The Woodlands Township, the District will fund the Park and Ride operations until a point in 2014 when government grant funds acquired prior to 2012 are expended. At that point the Township will assume full fiscal responsibility for the service.

The Township and the District entered into an Interlocal Agreement that provides the District will continue to serve in an operator capacity for The Woodlands Express Park & Ride operation, subject to oversight and approval of the Township.
