The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department is recruiting volunteers for a storm drain marking project in Grogan’s Mill Village. Municipal Utility District (MUD) 6, which serves Grogan’s Mill, will install educational markers on neighborhood storm drains. The markers remind residents that storm drains deliver water directly to nearby water bodies. Any pollutants that are dumped in the storm drain or run off from a yard or driveway, like motor oil or fertilizer, will also end up in those water bodies. MUD 6, working through Woodlands Water Agency, has purchased the drain markers.
Approximately 15 teams of four volunteers each will be needed to complete the project over a two-day period: Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28. Shifts run from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers may sign up for one or both days. The project makes for a great team building opportunity for local businesses, civic organizations, neighborhood groups and families. Individuals are welcome to join, as well.
Sign up today. Full meeting locations and instructions will be provided to those who register to participate.
