THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (September 9, 2019) – The Woodlands Township will host a free workshop on Saturday, October 5, 2019, entitled “Smarter Choices: Healthy Lawns and Landscapes = Healthy Waterways.” The event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at The Woodlands Emergency Training Center, 16135 IH-45 South, Conroe, TX 77385.
More than 80 percent of Texas waterways are categorized as impaired by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The workshop will focus on ways to reduce contaminants in waterways as a result of lawn and landscape care. Attendees will learn how implementing native species of plants and organic alternatives to chemicals can enhance stream health. Learn how these best care practices also reduce the need for lawn irrigation, thus lowering water use and avoiding the water waste typically associated with traditional irrigation methods.
