THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (October 13, 2020) – The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department presents Walk the Pathways - a new program for elementary schools in The Woodlands. Walk the Pathways is an alternate format for Walk to School and runs from Sunday, October 11 through Saturday, October 24. This program is a friendly, socially distanced competition between schools to encourage outdoor activity and promote pedestrian safety.
How Students Participate:
Optional: Students are encouraged to “level up” their walk along the pathways with activities such as chalk art or painted rocks with positive messages about pedestrian safety and outdoor activity.
The school with the most participating students wins a trophy and a very special first place prize, a 1-hour live virtual performance of award-winning environmental entertainer, Jack Golden's Garbage is my Bag, including a rap song sing along and Q and A. All participating schools will receive online access to view Jack Golden’s movie Garbage is My Bag. Jack Golden’s character, Dr. T, discusses the impact of litter on our planet and the importance of recycling and composting through humor, music, and acrobatic feats.
Walk the Pathways is hosted by The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department. To see if your school is participating, please contact your school’s administration. For questions about the program, contact Environmental Services at 281-210-3800 or firstname.lastname@example.org..
