Board Encourages Residents to Support Local Businesses Responsibly Township Chairman of the Board Gordy Bunch is encouraging residents to utilize the service of local restaurants that still offer take-out and catering options, as well as patronizing other local businesses, and doing so while wearing face coverings and observing social distancing and adhering to CDC guidelines. The Woodlands Township Board Met via Videoconference The Woodlands Township Board of Directors held a special meeting via videoconference on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 6 p.m. The Board of Directors discussed the following matters on the Regular Agenda: - Approved a Sixth Amendment to the Housing Interlocal Agreement with Montgomery County Hospital District.
- Approved an Agreement with Cypress Creek EMS Association for co-housing at The Woodlands Fire Station 8.
- Received and accepted a presentation on the 2021 Preliminary Budget for The Woodlands Township. The theme of the presentation was “Financial stability and budget flexibility to manage the uncertain and temporary financial impacts of COVID-19 while continuing to provide high-level services to the community.” The preliminary budget document can be found online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/budget.

County NewsMontgomery County COVID-19 Case Count Sees an Increase of 119 Positive CasesMontgomery County Public Health District, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, can confirm five additional deaths related to COVID-19. Two hospitalized, a woman in her 60s from Splendora and a man in his 80s from Conroe have died, both had co-morbidities in addition to testing positive for COVID-19. The three out-of-hospital deaths are males, one in his 50s from Porter, one in his 60s and one in his 70s both from New Caney. - TOTAL cases of COVID-19 increased by 119 to 6,196 since yesterday’s report.
- ACTIVE cases of COVID-19 decreased by 53 to 2,411 since yesterday’s report.
- 66 residents are known to be in the hospital, as a result of contact investigations. Contact investigations have not been initiated on all reported cases.
- 3,613 people have clinically recovered an increase of 167 since yesterday’s report.

Harris County COVID-19 Case Count Harris County Public Health (HCPH) publishes their daily case count, combined with the City of Houston's daily case count, here. Cases by zip code in Harris County can be found by clicking on areas of the map. The Village of Creekside Park is located in two zip codes: 77375 and 77389, and these also include Magnolia, Augusta Pines/Auburn Lakes/West Rayford Road in northwest Harris County. Today, Harris County is reporting zip code 77375 has 491 confirmed positive cases with 216 active cases, and 77389 has 256 confirmed positive cases with 65 active cases.

Wendtwoods Pool Re-Opens, Forestgate Pool Closed The Woodlands Township re-opened Wendtwoods Pool to the public on Monday, July 27, 2020, from 2 to 8 p.m. The pool was temporarily closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Due to the number of lifeguards in quarantine and as outlined in the COVID-19 Pool Closure Prioritization Plan, Forestgate Pool, pictured above, is closed effective July 27, 2020. Riva Row Boat House Now Open The Woodlands Township has re-opened Riva Row Boat House. Normal operating hours are in effect, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with last boats going out at 7 p.m., closed on Wednesdays only. Read the full release for more information. The Woodlands Farmer’s Market Open Tomorrow 8 a.m. to Noon Come enjoy produce, meats, artisan goods, health and beauty, knife sharpening, snacks and so much more. The market continues to have the same precautions in place: prohibited consumption of food/beverage in the market, a changed layout to allow for maximum social distancing and a requirement that masks to be worn by patrons and vendors. Vendors will also assist with purchases (please avoid touching the product), and set up hand sanitizing stations.

Staying Healthy and Avoiding Mosquitoes Mosquito surveillance has identified five mosquito samples positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) in Montgomery County. The next two weeks continue the typical peak of WNV activity in the mosquito population; please be vigilant in taking personal protective measures. Everyone is advised to wear repellent when outdoors and WNV is known to be circulating. This is especially true if someone: - Is outside in the early morning or evening hours when these mosquitoes are most active
- Is over age 50
- Has underlying health conditions

Local School Districts Reopening Plans - Conroe ISD will begin the school year on August 12, 2020, with ALL students in remote/online instruction only. - Magnolia ISD will start on August 12, 2020 with ALL students receiving instruction online through Labor Day. Planning for the 2020-2021 School Year

- The John Cooper School
Lower School – Students will return to campus in small groups on August 13 and 14, 2020 for a safer first entry. Online learning option remains available and will begin on August 17.
