Township Addresses Weather-Related Tree Stress

With the 2022 drought and recent Christmas weekend freeze, trees and plants in various landscaped beds and public reserves have been challenged. The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department will be waiting until warmer temperatures to understand the full impact of the freeze. A cutback too early in the season can prove harmful and may prove fatal to the plant if another hard freeze were to occur. The annual cutback is typically performed in late February to allow for the plant material to make a comeback, and this practice will continue this year. READ MORE

Township to Host Blood Drives on February 7 and 9

The Woodlands Township is partnering with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center to host two blood drives in February. Residents are invited to donate blood to those in need. According to the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center basics, about one in seven people entering a hospital needs blood, and every two seconds someone needs a blood transfusion. READ MORE

Register Now for the Muddy Trails 5K

The annual Muddy Trails 5K  takes place Saturday, February 18, 2023. The race features a chip-timed 5K trail run winding through the beautiful George Mitchell Nature Preserve, located on 1,800 acres adjacent to Rob Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside Park. The festive post-race party includes live zydeco music and the Muddy Bowl Crawfish Cook-Off. Concessions will be available for purchase.
