Carol Book Stromatt recently retired as Corporate Secretary and Treasurer of General Development Corporation (GDC), a real estate brokerage, consulting, and property management company serving The Woodlands since 1997.
Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Family and Consumer Science from Stephen F. Austin University. She is a licensed real estate broker, and a graduate of multiple leadership, management and trainer courses, including strategic planning through the American Management Association.
She began her professional career as Administrative Manager for Brown & Root, Inc. and First General Realty Corporation. She then became Corporate Secretary and Strategic Planning Coordinator for REMCO Enterprises, Inc., followed by Vice President and General Manager for The TEMA Corporation. Prior to her position at General Development Corporation, she was employed as Administrative Management for Memorial Herman Healthcare System Southwest in their Executive Offices and Home Health Division.
Carol’s community involvement includes service as a Director of the Indian Springs Village Association, a former Residential Design Review Committee member and many joint Village projects. She volunteers at Interfaith of The Woodlands, Montgomery County Women’s Center, Montgomery County Food Bank where she loves delivering Buddy Backpack food to Montgomery County Schools throughout the school year. She is a member of The Woodlands Coalition for Equality. She has previously been very active in the Woodlands Memorial Hermann Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. She is a member of The Woodlands Chi Omega Alumnae Chapter and The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce where she serves on various committees.
Carol and her husband, Richard, have four adult children, 6 grandchildren, and are proud to call The Woodlands their hometown.
