This project, started in November, 2012, will increase Woodlands Parkway from four lanes to six lanes from East Panther Creek Drive to Grogan’s Mill Road. A third lane will be added to both the east and the westbound lanes eliminating bottlenecks. The $6.5 million project is funded by the Road Utility District #1 (RUD) and federal dollars, managed by TxDOT, coordinated by The Woodlands Development Company and will be maintained by Montgomery County.
A new contractor has been hired as of December 2014.
The Notice to Proceed has been issued to Texas Sterling to complete the Woodlands Parkway expansion project. The contractor has 14 days to mobilize. However, the contractor has already begun cleaning the area.
The contract period is 90 days, however the contractor estimates they will have the outside lane of the westbound side completed and open within 31 days.
The Texas Department of Transportation is preparing to begin setting up lane closures on eastbound and westbound Woodlands Parkway from Grogan’s Mill to East Panther Creek daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Lane closures are scheduled to start Monday depending on rain possibility. Updates will follow accordingly.
Beginning Wednesday, December 17, 2014, through Friday, December 19, 2014, the eastbound lane of Woodlands Parkway will be closed between East Panther Creek and Grogan’s Mill. This closure will be in effect daily on the noted date between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Only the outside lane of Woodlands Parkway will be affected. Please drive safely and be cautious of construction crews.
On Monday, January 12 and Tuesday, January 13, 2015, Texas Sterling needs to close the pedestrian bridge at South Shore park to x-ray the welds on the steel waterline attached to the bridge.
The two outside lanes of Woodlands Parkway, on the eastbound side, will be closed beginning January 20, 2015, until January 23, 2015, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Please observe all traffic signs and road workers and drive safely.
