The Woodlands Fire Department is staffed with full-time, commissioned firefighters/emergency medical technicians that are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Department has teams who are fully-trained to respond to a wide variety of emergencies including:

  • Collapse Rescue
  • Fires
  • Hazardous Materials Emergencies
  • High-Angle Rescue
  • Medical Calls
  • Swiftwater Rescue
  • Trench Rescue

The Woodlands Fire Department has an excellent team of Deputy Chiefs, Battalion Chiefs and professional firefighters who provide outstanding fire and life safety services to the residents of The Woodlands while maintaining the highest level of certification in the industry.

Firefighter positions with The Woodlands Fire Department (TWFD) are typically filled through scheduled recruitment periods rather than on an ongoing basis. Palmer Buck

Chief Palmer Buck brings 37 years of public safety experience, including 26 years with the Austin Fire Department.

Chief Buck holds a BA in Fire Protection Technology, a Master of Public Affairs and is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer program.

A proven leader and mentor, he is active in national fire service organizations and holds numerous certifications.
