Public Information Request

The Texas Public Information Act gives the public the right to request access to government information. Public information requests made under the Texas Public Information Act Government Code Chapter 552 must be submitted in writing. All submitted written requests are treated uniformly and reviewed to determine whether the requested information is public under The Act. The public information request will be processed promptly and responsive information will be made available within the time allowed by law.

To efficiently process public information requests, The Woodlands Township uses JustFOIA. This system streamlines the request process, making it easier for both the person submitting the request and the department fulfilling it. JustFOIA helps us better serve the community by ensuring quick and organized responses to all requests.

How to Submit a Request

Submitting a public information request is simple and only takes two steps.

  1. Identify the record you wish to request.
  2. Complete and submit the Public Information Request Form through the JustFOIA Portal.

  • We encourage you to provide contact information for easier communication.
  • If you choose not to provide contact information, use the reference number for communication and to receive records. You will need to contact the appropriate office to verify receipt of your request.

After your request is submitted, it will be reviewed and processed by staff. Please note that certain information may be redacted in accordance with state law, and in some cases, a request may be submitted to the Texas Attorney General’s Office for review to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
