National Night Out
National Night Out in The Woodlands is more than a single event—it's a series of community-wide activities that bring neighbors together throughout the fall to support public safety and neighborhood unity. From kick-off events to dozens of registered block parties across all villages, National Night Out is one of the largest and most impactful outreach efforts hosted by Neighborhood Services each year.
National Night Out is part of a nationwide initiative and The Woodlands has made it uniquely its own with strong participation from residents, law enforcement, The Woodlands Fire Department and Township staff. These events promote police-community partnerships, heighten crime prevention awareness, and encourage neighbors to get to know one another—a key factor in maintaining a safe and connected community.
Participating is easy, fun and meaningful. Whether you host a small gathering or attend a local event, National Night Out is a chance to celebrate community spirit and take an active role in keeping The Woodlands safe.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
- Generate support for local anti-crime efforts.
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
- Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Visit the National Association of Town Watch website to learn more about the National Night Out campaign and how it is celebrated across the nation.
Each year, residents of The Woodlands are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend an evening outside with neighbors. Neighbor knowing neighbor is one of the most effective ways to prevent crime. Local law enforcement and The Woodlands Fire Department will briefly visit with residents of many of the neighborhoods that register their parties with the Township.
