Communications

The Woodlands Township Communications Department is a team of award-winning professionals dedicated to providing clear, consistent and transparent communication to residents.

The department’s responsibilities include:

  • Managing news releases, media relations and emergency communications.
  • Maintaining Township websites.
  • Designing and producing marketing materials, signage and special publications.
  • Creating digital content including videos, newsletters and social media campaigns.
  • Supporting Township events with promotional strategies and outreach.
  • Preparing speaking points and presentations for Board and executive leadership.
  • Processing hundreds of departmental requests each month.
  • Maintaining professional standards and ensuring compliance with state and federal mandates.

The department builds public trust, strengthens community engagement and delivers timely, accurate information across all platforms.

The Woodlands Community Magazine is the official publication of the Township delivering news directly to residents. This free, award-winning magazine is written and designed in-house by the Township’s Communications Department. Published every other month, it features updates on events, meetings, elections, services and more. Our magazine has been rated the number one source for Township information by residents.

LeaAnn Dearman Petersen serves as the Director of Communications for The Woodlands Township managing media relations, strategic messaging, digital communications, publications and community engagement efforts.

Petersen holds certifications in public communication and public management and has two decades of experience in local government communications.
