The Woodlands boasts a robust network of over 150 community parks, more than 220 miles of pathways, and 4,445 acres of open space—equating to 38.3 acres of open space per 1,000 residents, which is 74% above the national average (National Recreation and Park Association). With 151 parks, that’s one park for every 788 residents, a figure 155% above the national average, making access to green space a defining feature of the community.

Park Rules

Township parks are open from dawn until dusk, except for lighted sports fields and courts, which close at 11 p.m. The speed limit is 10 miles per hour in all parks. Please park only in designated areas. Operating a motor vehicle within a park except on roads and parking lots is prohibited. The following are prohibited in The Woodlands Township parks and facilities:

  • Glass containers

  • Vandalism

  • Removal or destruction of vegetation

  • Fires (except in barbecue grills)

  • Littering and dumping

  • Disorderly conduct

  • Excessive noise

  • Swimming in lakes or ponds

  • Vehicles left overnight

  • Horseback riding

  • Fireworks

  • Soliciting funds or donations

  • Guns or weapons

  • Distributing circulars

  • Selling goods and services
