Races

Enjoy the thrill and competition of participating in endurance events from triathlon to trail running. The majority of people do not enter these races to win, but to set a personal goal and achieve it. The following races are produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department.

The Woodlands Township's races benefit and help fund programs and services offered through The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department. The Woodlands Township Recreation Center was constructed in 1993 to serve The Woodlands through programs, promotion of health and well-being of residents and visitors, and to provide a facility that did not limit involvement due to cost. Since then, The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department has served the community through recreation program scholarships and promotion of other not-for-profit groups.

Crush Rush 5K | Saturday, February 15, 2025

Held each February along The Woodlands Waterway, the Crush Rush 5K is a chip-timed race produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department and sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF). The scenic course winds through The Waterway, offering a festive and fun atmosphere for runners of all abilities. Participants are encouraged to wear their best Valentine’s Day-themed attire and enjoy the friendly competition. The race is recommended for ages 10 and older.

The 2025 Crush Rush 5K was held on February 15, 2025. Check back for details on the 2026 event.

Run & Done 3.1 | Saturday, April 19, 2025

Held in April each year, Run and Done 3.1 is a chip-timed 5K race produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department and sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF). Held at Rob Fleming Park (6055 Creekside Forest Drive), the course winds through the scenic pathway system, offering a fun and competitive atmosphere for runners of all abilities. The race is recommended for ages 10 and older.

After crossing the finish line, registered participants and their guests are invited to enjoy a festive egg hunt in the park. Egg hunt attendees must be accompanied by a registered runner wearing a race bib. The hunt continues while supplies last—baskets or buckets not provided.

The 2025 Run and Done 3.1 was held on April 19, 2025, at Rob Fleming Park. Details for the 2026 event will be posted at a later date.

The Woodlands Triathlon | Saturday, May 10, 2025

Held each May, The Woodlands Triathlon is a multi-sport race featuring a swim in Lake Woodlands, a bike course through The Woodlands community, and a scenic run along The Waterway. Open to athletes of all experience levels.

2025 EVENT NOTICE: The Woodlands Township conducts regular water quality testing annually, including the weeks leading up to and on the week of The Woodlands Triathlon. Collecting multiple samples, including the week of, allows for more accurate results for Race Day lake conditions. The most recent water quality samples collected this week yielded higher bacterial levels than is allowed by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for the level of recreational use. As a result, the swim portion of The Woodlands Triathlon has been canceled and the race will now be a Duathlon (Run, Bike, Run).

As one of the premier multi-sport events in the region, The Woodlands Triathlon offers a beginner-friendly atmosphere, first-rate race management and scenic courses. Produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department, The Woodlands Triathlon will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025.

The sprint distance triathlon provides participants with a variety of opportunities to prepare for Race Day, making it an ideal first time race for those just being introduced to the sport. The event culminates with a festive awards party featuring music, great food and beverages.

The Woodlands Triathlon is a USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned event, and served as the Texas State Triathlon Championship in 2017. The race earned a Top 10 spot in the USAT South Midwest Region for Sprint Distance Triathlons in 2004, and was designated as the USAT South Midwest Region Sprint State Championships for 2007.

Triathlon Prep Events

In advance of the race, the Township offers numerous race prep events, including an Open Water Swim Day and a First Timer’s Clinic. Complimentary clinics are also available for participants.

Traffic Impact

Please be advised that The Woodlands Triathlon will result in temporary lane closures and traffic impacts along the race route; drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible.

Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas | Saturday, October 11, 2025

Held in October each year, the Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas race series, produced by The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department, features three exciting races held each October: the 10-mile Memorial Hermann 10 for Texas, the 3.1 Armadillo Run 5K, and the One 4 Texas Kids’ Fun Run. All races begin and end at Northshore Park (2505 Lake Woodlands Drive) and wind through the beautiful community of The Woodlands.

Glow & Go 5K | Saturday, December 6, 2025

Held each December, the Glow and Go 5K is a festive evening race that lights up The Woodlands with holiday cheer. Participants are encouraged to dress in their most colorful, glowing gear and enjoy a fun, chip-timed 5K course filled with music, lights, and seasonal spirit. Open to runners of all abilities, this race is a bright way to celebrate the season.
