Great Texas Birding Classic

The Great Texas Birding Classic is an annual competition held across Texas to determine which team can identify and count the most birds during a specific window of time. This is the biggest birdwatching tournament in the state and this year The Woodlands Township has a registered team!

The Township team is competing in the ‘Big Sit’ category and will be at The Lookout Bird blind at the George Mitchell Nature Preserve on Saturday, May 3, from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. documenting as many birds as they can see and hear.

Residents are invited to join the team to help spot and identify birds. New to birding? Our team members will be your guide. Bring a lawn chair and binoculars, or borrow a pair from us, and come birding with The Woodlands Township. All ages are welcome. For more information contact The Woodlands Township Environmental Services at enviro@thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov.
