Help keep The Woodlands looking clean and green! Join Fall Sweep, a community-wide, month-long litter cleanup challenge.

How Fall Sweep Works
  • Plan your cleanup. Gather your coworkers, family and friends and get ready for a day of community beautification!
  • Pick your date and location of choice within our community. If desired, complete a litter equipment request to borrow litter grabbers, vests, gloves and trash bags.
  • Sign your waiver. Each participant must fill out a waiver to participate in this community volunteering opportunity.
  • Conduct your cleanup. Clean up litter along pathways and in the tree lines. Dispose of full bags at home or in a park trash can. Tie your trash bags tightly to protect sanitation workers and avoid overstuffing park trash cans.
  • Share your success! Submit a litter cleanup report at https://bit.ly/FallSweepTWT with your estimated litter totals and cleanup photos. Groups may submit multiple cleanups throughout the month of October.
NEW THIS YEAR!

At the end of the month, groups with the highest total volume of litter removed will be recognized with a plaque and press release recognizing their effort. Multiple winners will be chosen based on group size, with categories for individual, 2 to 10, 10 to 20, and 20+.

Safety Guidelines
  • Wear protective gear. Use gloves when picking up trash.
  • Be prepared for the elements. Long pants, closed-toe shoes, hats, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and a reusable water bottle are recommended.
  • Sanitize when you’re done. Immediately wash your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer after collecting litter.
  • Be aware of wildlife. Avoid all snakes and wildlife. Observe from a distance and irritate tall grass or bushes with a stick before entering to scare off wildlife.
  • Know poisonous plants and avoid them. Poison ivy is common along pathways and inside tree lines. Touching leaves and roots can cause a painful rash. Remember: leaves of three, leave them be!
  • Report large or hazardous items. Report items to the Township through the 311 App, or by calling 281-210-3800 during business hours.
Site Selection Tips

Participants may choose their own cleanup locations. Parks, pathways and green spaces by businesses always need cleaning. Pay attention to tree lines to spot litter hiding under leaves and brush.
