Special Board Meeting and Public Hearing for Thursday, September 3, 2026

The following is a recap of the Special Meeting to adopt the 2027 Budget and the Public Hearing on the Proposed 2026 Property Tax Rate both held on September 3, 2026. The meeting agendas were posted to the Township website three business days in advance of the meetings. Boardroom Briefings are distributed via email and posted to the Township website.


2027 BUDGET

ADOPTED – 2027 Consolidated Budget

President and CEO Monique Sharp presented the 2027 consolidated budget to the Board of Directors, based on the proposed 2026 property tax rate of $0.1694 per $100 of taxable value.

The Board unanimously adopted the 2027 consolidated budget.

PUBLIC HEARING

HEARING HELD - Proposed 2026 Property Tax Rate

After reviewing and adopting the 2027 consolidated budget, the Board held a public hearing, providing an opportunity for residents to offer feedback on the proposed 2026 property tax rate of $0.1694 per $100 of taxable value, which is lower than the current tax rate of $0.1714 per $100 of taxable value.

2026 PROPERTY TAX

ADOPTED – 2026 Debt Service Tax Rate

The total property tax rate consists of two components: the debt service rate and the maintenance and operations (M&O) rate, both of which must be adopted separately by the Board. The Board unanimously adopted the 2026 debt service rate of $0.0100 per $100 of taxable value.

ADOPTED – 2026 Maintenance and Operations Tax Rate
The 2026 maintenance and operations tax rate of $0.1594 was adopted by a 6 to 1 vote, with Director Shelley Sekula-Gibbs voting in opposition. Combined with the debt service tax rate of $0.0100, the Township’s total 2026 tax rate is $0.1694 per $100 of taxable value, a decrease from the 2025 total tax rate of $0.1714 per $100 of taxable value.

APPROVED – Order Levying Taxes (Order No. 008-26)

After adopting the two components of the 2026 property tax rate as summarized above, the Board is required to pass an order to levy property taxes. The Order Levying Taxes (Order No. 008-26) was approved by the Board with a 6 to 1 vote, with Director Shelley Sekula- Gibbs voting in opposition.
