THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (December 7, 2020) – The Woodlands Township Neighborhood Watch earned Third Place in Category #2 for Populations 100,000 to 300,000, from The National Association of Town Watch, for their 2020 National Night Out Campaign.

“These public safety partnerships play a critical role in Township crime and fire prevention efforts, especially in a very challenging year,” said Chairman of the Board Gordy Bunch. “We are grateful for our many public safety agencies and first responders who help to keep The Woodlands a safe and vibrant community.”

The Township thanks the many team members of Neighborhood Watch who contributed to this honor. The Township also thanks its public safety partners: the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Constable’s Office - Precinct 4, Montgomery County Constable’s Office, Precinct 3, Texas Department of Public Safety-Highway Patrol, Montgomery County Hospital District-EMS and The Woodlands Fire Department.

“It is with great pride and a huge thank you to all the public safety agencies that helped us pull this together in 3-weeks’ time! The Neighborhood Services staff should be extremely proud of this accomplishment, during this very trying year,” said Marian Leck, director of Township Law Enforcement Services. “This award is the result of hard work by the entire department, along with our resident volunteers who assisted in spreading the word about the National Night Out “drive-thru” event and our local public safety partners.”

The Township also collaborated on the State of Texas entry, which garnered first place in its category.

National Night Out is a community-building campaign designed to raise awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for local anti-crime efforts and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
