The Woodlands Township ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 1.79 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY BY $-1.80.

Dr. Demian Gomez, Regional Forest Health Coordinator with the Texas A&M Forest Service, will present on the invasive redbay ambrosia beetle and the laurel wilt disease it spreads. The session will explore the beetle’s biology, how the disease is transmitted, and effective management strategies to help protect vulnerable trees. Laurel wilt impacts redbay and other members of the laurel family, including avocado, sassafras and spicebush.
