Routes and Schedules

The Woodlands Express Park and Ride offers a variety of bus schedules from the three park and ride locations situated around The Woodlands community.

The Museum District is now included in the Texas Medical Center route
Commuters from The Woodlands Park and Ride locations now have the option to access the Houston Museum District via any bus traveling the Texas Medical Center route, with eight morning trips to the heart of the Museum District and nine afternoon trips returning to The Woodlands.

Departure times for the Texas Medical Center and the Museum District route:

  • Sawdust: 6:10 a.m., 7:15 a.m.
  • Research Forest: 5:45 a.m., 6:15 a.m., 7:15 a.m.
  • Sterling Ridge: 5:25 a.m., 6:45 a.m.

Tickets

Tickets may be purchased through The Woodlands Express WE TIX App or at any of the Park and Ride terminals. Physical fare/Smart Cards are available at each of the three terminals and must be purchased in advance for this service as drivers do not accept cash. Buses are filled on a first come, first served basis, and only stop at designated locations.

Mobile Tickets

The Woodlands Express Park and Ride has a mobile ticketing app, allowing riders to purchase tickets on their smartphones anytime, anywhere.The QR code on the app’s welcome screen can be scanned under the validator, while Smart Cards should be tapped on the contactless payment symbol. Either method will deduct a valid ride from the user’s wallet

Riders using the app can pay for tickets using a credit or debit card, or digital payment services. Both round-trip tickets and ticket books, which give riders 20 round trip tickets, are available. The app is available for download from both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Smart Cards

The Woodlands Township is making commuting easier with the WE TIX Smart Card, a convenient tap and go payment option for riders of The Woodlands Express. Designed to simplify boarding, the Smart Card provides a faster and more efficient way to travel.

SmartCards

For a limited time, Smart Cards are available at no charge for the first 12 months. In 2027, Smart Cards will be available for purchase for $2 each. Cards can be picked up at any Woodlands Express Park and Ride location.

How to Get Started

Linking your Smart Card to your WE TIX account is quick and simple:

  1. Visit the web portal
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Select “ID and Add”
  4. Choose “WE TIX SC” from the dropdown menu
  5. Enter the barcode number from the back of your card
  6. Do not select "Dependents"
  7. Select “Add”

Once completed, your Smart Card is ready to use.

How It Works

Load your preferred fare product onto your WE TIX account and simply tap your Smart Card when boarding. Your fare is automatically deducted.

A Better Way to Ride

The WE TIX Smart Card is part of The Woodlands Township’s continued commitment to improving transit services and enhancing the rider experience. By streamlining the process, riders can enjoy a more seamless and reliable commute.

 

Charges, Refunds and Ticket Expiration

The Woodlands Township operates a no refund policy.  Purchases made within the app, or at the park and ride cannot be changed, cancelled, or refunded.  The decision to change, cancel or refund a purchase is made at The Woodland Township’s sole and absolute discretion. 

 

Ticket Policy

  • Township-printed paper tickets will not be sold after July 31, 2026.
  • All Township-printed paper tickets will expire on December 31, 2027, and will not be accepted by the Township for Woodlands Express service.
  • Only mobile tickets, Radio Frequency ID (RFID) cards (issued upon development), and single-use fare cards that are compatible with the onboard ticket validation system will be accepted after December 31, 2027.
  • All Township-printed paper tickets sold by The Woodlands Township not used by December 31, 2027, can be credited to the mobile ticket virtual wallet, converted into stored value account credit, or converted into single-use fare cards.
  • Any remaining such paper tickets will be accepted by the Township for conversion up to December 31, 2028. After that date, no Township-printed paper tickets will be accepted for conversion.

Paper tickets issued by the Brazos Transit District (BTD) or Montgomery County are no longer being accepted.

Locations

Park and Ride Lot Locations

The Woodlands Township operates three Park & Rides conveniently located throughout The Woodlands. For your safety and convenience, onsite security personnel patrol the lots and are available to assist with fare purchases, schedules, and route planning. Service hours are from 5 AM to 9 PM, and the access gates operate on the same schedule. Overnight parking is not permitted unless prior written permission is obtained from The Woodlands Township.

Policies

The Woodlands Township strives to maintain and operate a safe, efficient, and comfortable commute for all passengers of The Woodlands Express. For the safety and comfort of all persons who interact with the transit system, the Township has established this policy to address the conduct of persons using The Woodlands Express buses and facilities, as well as matters related to mobile ticketing.

Passenger Code of Conduct

  • Smoking is not permitted on any bus or inside Park and Ride terminals.

  • Weapons or firearms are prohibited on buses except as permitted pursuant to state law.

  • Only service animals are permitted on buses and in Park and Ride terminals.

  • Loud and/or abusive behavior or language, including profanity/racial or vulgar comments, may be cause for immediate removal from the bus and possible loss of ridership privileges.

  • Passengers may only bring carry-on items that will fit comfortably on their lap or above their seat and will not protrude into the next seat. Drivers cannot help load or unload items.

  • The Township reserves the right to restrict certain items on all buses.

  • Riding on buses under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs is prohibited.

  • Music/movie playing devices are not permitted to be played aloud while on any bus without using earphones.

  • The Township is not responsible for personal items left on the bus or in a Park and Ride terminal.

  • Passengers must wear appropriate attire at all times, including a shirt and shoes.

  • Valid fare must be purchased and ready for use prior to boarding the bus.

  • Refrain from eating or drinking on the bus and have all drinks and food contained in spill-proof containers.

  • Passengers must be 12 years old or older unless accompanied by an adult.

  •  Failure to conform with the Code of Conduct may result in removal or suspension from The Woodlands Express as outlined in the Transit Suspension Procedures(PDF, 256KB).

Public Notice

Following a period of public comment and compliance with the Public Participation Policy component of the Federal Transit Administration Title VI requirements, a $2 fare increase was proposed and approved for The Woodlands Express Park and Ride program, raising the round-trip fare from $15 to $17 effective April 1, 2026.

This fare adjustment is to cover increasing operational costs while preserving the current quality of The Woodlands Express commuter service.
