The Woodlands Township will unveil six new trolley vehicles later this year, and you can help name them! Beginning January 20, 2026, residents of The Woodlands can submit naming ideas for the new trolleys.

“We invite residents to submit their best ideas using nature-inspired names that reflect the vision of our home, as shaped by founder George P. Mitchell and The Woodlands Township,” said Township Director of Transportation Ruthanne Haut.

Selected names and winners will be recognized by The Woodlands Township Board of Directors. In addition, the winning names will be proudly displayed on the new trolleys.

The contest is limited to The Woodlands Township residents and is free to enter.

  • A parent or guardian must fill out the form on behalf of a child.
  • Name ideas submitted with a nature-inspired theme will be considered.
  • Only names submitted through the online form will be eligible.
  • Each resident may submit up to three name ideas.
  • The Woodlands Township will name up to six trolleys as a result of the contest.
  • An internal staff committee will review all submissions and select a group of finalist names.
  • The finalist names will be presented for public voting through an online form scheduled to open on February 10 and close February 20.
  • Please note that while public input will be considered as part of the process, the final authority will remain with Township staff.
