Household Hazardous Waste Drive-Thru

The Woodlands Township invites residents to bring select items for a FREE, one-day special collection at the Household Hazardous Waste Drive-Thru located at the Sterling Ridge Park & Ride on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event aims to safely dispose of household items that may be corrosive, flammable, poisonous, reactive or otherwise unsuitable for traditional waste streams. 

Help by following these guidelines: Bag or box like items together and place securely in your trunk or back seat. Never mix household hazardous waste products together. Staff will provide a full-service drive-thru, so please stay in your vehicle.

A driver's license or utility bill is required for proof of residency within The Woodlands Township, and no business items will be accepted.

 Accepted Items

• Aerosols, such as spray paint, bug spray, cleaning or spray foam products 
• Antifreeze
• Corrosives, such as drain cleaners, chemical strippers, degreasers and pool acids 
• Fire extinguishers 
• Flammables & oxidizers, solid or liquid, such as paint thinner, turpentine, wood stain, granular or liquid pool and household chemicals, polish and contaminated rags 
• Lightbulbs – Compact fluorescent (CFL), fluorescent and high-intensity discharge (HID) only. Must be intact, not broken. No tube lights over 4 feet.  
• Latex & oil-based paint 
• Mercury-containing products, such as thermometers 
• Motor oil & oil filters
• Poisons, solid or liquid, such as pest bait, weed killers, chemical fertilizers or hobby glue 
• Propane tanks – 1 lb. and 20 lb. only 
• Reactives, such as bleach, ammonia or chlorine 

Please be advised: This event has a limited capacity and may end before 1 p.m. if the maximum capacity is reached. We encourage residents to arrive early, as participation is not guaranteed once capacity has been met.

The Household Hazardous Waste Drive-Thru is hosted by The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department, made possible by grant funding from the Houston-Galveston Area Council.
