Celebrate Earth Month in The Woodlands

Why celebrate the Earth for a day when you could celebrate it for a month? This year is the third annual Earth Month in The Woodlands Township, during which we will be celebrating our wonderful planet every single day! From a quick at-home activity or resource to in-person events and giveaways, there’s something for every age and interest level as we honor the Earth this April!

April 1

This Earth Month is loaded with days of action, helpful tips, and environmental events. Take time today to mark your calendar for time-sensitive events you won’t want to miss!

Reducing your landfill contributions has never been so easy! Read our tips for leading a zero-waste lifestyle through simple changes like taking advantage of the Library of Things to switching to reusable items. Try out just one zero-waste strategy today!

There are more than 150 parks across The Woodlands; try one out today with a friend, coworker, or family member!  While you’re there, explore outdoor amenities such as covered pavilions for picnics, tennis and pickleball courts, and dog parks!

Did you know that plastic is the most common category of litter in Texas? Take a moment today on your walk to school, across the parking lot, or with your dog to pick up 10 pieces of litter. If every person in the Township participated, we would collect over 1 million pieces of litter in a day!

As invasive species hinder the growth and success of native plant species, volunteers are vital in removing them and protecting our woodlands. Join the Invasives Task Force today to learn how to identify and remove invasive species!

Take advantage of our Birding Backpack Program today! With just a phone call, you can reserve your fully equipped birding backpack for the week to observe the many avian species in our community.

Did you know you can request an environmental educator to visit your classroom? Schools, scout groups, and clubs within The Woodlands can request an environmental educator to teach an interactive lesson on recycling, pollinators, water conservation, and more! Shopping local is an easy way to lower your carbon footprint and enjoy produce grown in your own community! The Woodlands Famers Market at Grogan's Mill is open every Saturday year-round! Spend your morning picking out sustainable and tasty goods! Hours are currently 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Visit Yappy Hour this evening at Bear Branch Dog Park to sign our pet waste pledge and get a free reusable dog water bottle and waste bag dispenser. Scoop your pet’s poop – and learn about how to join the Dog Walker Watch!

Did you know that #6 plastic is the only plastic that can’t be recycled in The Woodlands? However, it can be made into a homemade keychain with just a few simple steps! Follow this easy tutorial to get started. Make sure to punch a hole in your plastic before starting!

Happy Arbor Day! Learn about native trees in our community and how to support them in your own yard with our essential resources for tree care.

April 25

Support pollinators in your own backyard! Stop by Wendtwoods Park on April 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon to pick up free native milkweed and a wildflower seed pack — while supplies last! Educators will be on hand to share planting tips and the benefits of native plants for monarchs and other pollinators.

April 26

Register today for the Great Texas Birding Classic, an annual competition held across Texas to determine which team can identify and count the most birds during a specific window of time. Register today to join the Township team at The Lookout at the George Mitchell Nature Preserve on Saturday, May 2, from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. No experience necessary!

Protect our waterways by joining the Stormwater Pollution Prevention program! Volunteers will assist with placing markers on storm drains that read “No dumping – drains to waterways.” Sign up today to help The Woodlands Township raise awareness about water pollution and encourage responsible waste disposal.
